The Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, Nsukka is delighted to host, for the third time, the WIPO–Nigeria Summer School on Intellectual Property, organized in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The Summer School will take place onsite from Monday, 31 August to Friday, 11 September 2026. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive an official Certificate of Completion issued by WIPO.
Programme Overview
The intensive two-week programme provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property law and policy. Core areas include: Patents, Copyright, Trade Marks, Industrial Designs, Geographical Indications, Intellectual Property and Taxation, Intellectual Property Strategy and Commercialisation, technology transfer, IP valuation, and intellectual property taxation. The programme also examines emerging issues such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Digital Environment, Climate Change, Public Health, Traditional Knowledge, Biodiversity, Biotechnology, IP Enforcement, Alternative Dispute Resolution, SMEs, and Internet Domain Name Disputes (UDRP).

- Graduate and postgraduate students;

- Individuals from any discipline seeking advanced knowledge of intellectual property.

Travel, Accommodation and Insurance
Participants are responsible for their:
- Travel to and from Enugu, Nigeria;
- Accommodation; and
- Living expenses throughout the programme.
Non-resident participants will receive insurance coverage for the duration of the Summer School.
Each participant will also be required to present a medical certificate upon arrival.

Group Project
Participants will be assigned to groups on the first day of the programme and will work collaboratively on selected intellectual property topics. On the final day, each group will present its report, providing an opportunity to showcase research, exchange ideas, and engage in scholarly discussion.
