Miriam Chinyere Anozie graduated from the Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) and obtained an academic prize as the best student in Jurisprudence. She holds postgraduate degrees in law (LL.M and PhD) from Ahmadu Bello University and University of Nigeria respectively. In 2015, Miriam Anozie obtained a diploma in Constitution-Building in Africa from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary.
She had a stint in legal practice as a State Counsel in Ministry of Justice, Kano State and Senior Counsel in Anozie’s Chambers Enugu, before joining the academia. Miriam Anozie joined the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria in 1992 and was promoted to Reader in 2011.
Though her area of specialization is Constitutional Law, where she has published extensively in both international and local journals, she has recently developed interest in Health Law. She teaches Constitutional Law and Administrative Law at the undergraduate level and Comparative Constitutional Law and Health Law at the postgraduate level.
Dr. Anozie was the Head of Department of Commercial and Property Law from 2006 to 2008; 2013 to 2014 and 2015 to 2016. She served on the editorial board of the departmental journal; Journal of Contemporary Law as the Associate Editor from 2008 to 2015. She was the pioneer Head of Department of Jurisprudence and Legal Theory in 2016 and is still the Head of the Department till date. Currently, she is the Associate Dean of Faculty of Law.
Dr. Anozie is a member of the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers, member Nigerian Law Teachers Association, member Nigerian Bar Association and member International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
Dr. Miriam Anozie a devout Christian is married to Engr. R.K. Anozie and they are blessed with five children.
